101 Dalmatians (1996) 8.5/10 The movie,101 Dalmatians (1996) was an adaptation of its famous animated version in the early years, which is also an adaptation of Dodie’s Smith novel. It received unexpected reactions from audiences of all ages although the movie was mostly directed for children. What seemingly caught the people’s attention the most was the main character herself, Cruella De Vil; her personality of a wicked, evil, gleeful yet humorous villain is engaging to see. Thus, her character is enjoyable to hate on as we deplore her character. Nevertheless, all the characters in this show are enjoyable to see and learn about their personalities along with the movie, all then again, villains in Disney movies never get the best of ending which is a satisfying end of all sorts. A tradition when you are a villain I could say.
Cruella 7/10 Cruella is a movie supposed to be a recreation of an adaptation of 101 dalmatians (1996) albeit the story was not quite like the original series. This recent movie has been receiving a mix of a reaction; some mentioned that it was quite phenomenal and the others slightly disapproved of the change of plot. Nevertheless, it caught a lot of attention as it is an exquisite visual feast with its fantastical, punk rock, classical theme outfits. In comparison with the old version, Cruella in this movie is not a villain but more of an anti-hero character. Her narcissistic, sarcastic, and wicked character in this movie is still all there but not as same as the old one due to changes that Disney made to make it more family-friendly. Though it has changed, it is still as brilliant and memorable as what Cruella has said: “ I was born brilliant, born bad, and a little bit mad.” Which dramedy movie is your favourite? |
